Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal Nominations

On February 6, 2012, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II marked the 60th anniversary of her accession to the Throne as Queen of Canada - an occasion marked only once before by her great-great-grandmother, Queen Victoria, in 1897. To celebrate Her Majesty's 60 years of selfless service and devotion to duty, His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, announced the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal as a visible and tangible way to recognize outstanding Canadians of all ages and from all walks of life. These medals provide an opportunity to honour exceptional Canadians for their contributions to their fellow citizens, to our community and to our country.
During the year of celebrations, 60 000 deserving Canadians from across the country
and various walks of life will be recognized.
The Chancellery of Honours, as part of the Office of the Secretary to the Governor
General, administers the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal program.
