MP Tim Uppal Announces Funding For Canadian Progress Club Sherwood Park, AB- January 13, 2010 - Tim Uppal, Member of Parliament for Edmonton-Sherwood Park, on behalf of the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, announced today federal funding for the Canadian Progress Club. Funding for this investment is being provided under the Vancouver 2010 Torch Relay Youth Initiatives Program.
"Our Government is proud to support the Canadian Progress Club", said Tim Uppal. "Of all the organizations in our community, few have shown such dedication to the Olympic spirit as the Canadian Progress Club. Their contribution to the torch relay as well as other related events has been greatly appreciated by the entire community and our Government is happy that it was able to assist the club in its endeavors".
The Canadian Progress Club received funding of $12,500 to help present the Olympic expose at the Strathcona Wilderness Centre as well the school torch relay. The Progress club also assisted in theming the New Year's Eve Festival.

The Vancouver 2010 Torch Relay Youth Initiatives Program was created to help route communities organize and develop Olympic themed programs that would include youth from the community. It is part of an overall funding program to help bring the Olympic spirit to all Canadians.
